“I believe that everyone is their own brand,” says Kenneth Cole, chairman and chief creative officer of his eponymous brand. “Personal style is defining and this unique selection of fragrances provides yet another opportunity for one to further express their individuality.”
Fragrance products
At the start of 2013, Parlux signed a licensing deal with Kenneth Cole. Previously, Coty held the fragrance license.
At the time of the licensing deal, Linda Levy, then senior vice president and chief marketing officer of Parlux’ parent company Perfumania Holdings, Inc., told the press, “We welcome the addition of Kenneth Cole to the Parlux family. This iconic New York brand provides its consumers with a combination of intelligence, irreverence and style….We are thrilled to be part of his brand evolution and look forward to creating future opportunities together.”
Hers and His
The brand has launched Kenneth Cole for Her and Kenneth Cole for Him, and according to a media release from the brand, it’s “the first time in fifteen years Kenneth Cole is launching a new fragrance Masterbrand.”
Both scents are meant to stand alone. The ladies scent is being described as “a floral musk,” with top notes of pink peonies, lemon, and translucent florals; mid notes of jasmine, violet, and lily-of-the-valley; and with base notes of sandalwood, heliotrope, and skin musks.
Nicole Mancini, senior perfumer at Givaudan, explains the new fragrance this way: “The scent is inspired by the Kenneth Cole woman who would wear this fragrance, traditional with an edge. The fragrance is designed in a linear structure with contrasts to obtain a ‘rock 'n roll edge.’ The signature is centered around musk providing this effortless, easy comfort that is extremely wearable and pumped throughout the fragrance in a non-traditional way. The edge comes from this unique duo of Carrot Seed and Ambrette, providing a touch of warmth to increase the mellow expression. Beautiful fluid Florals envelop the Musk in a stunning contrast. The finished composition has a cool factor that is very addictive.”
The man’s scent, as Philippe Romano, a Perfumer at Drom, describes it is “clean and edgy…embodied by a contrasted and graphic scent based on an enticing Mineral Accord. Inspired by the urban and high-tech streets of New York, a city of endless possibilities… Rock 'n roll woods melt with authentic saltiness and translucent Jasmine to provide this biting clarity, an innovative addiction to embrace. This note is an infinite and minimalist blueprint of free minds.”
Yours and Ours
And there are three other scents in the collection meant to either stand alone or be layered on over the Hers and His scents as clothing would be layered to complete a look.
Serenity is blended to be calming, Energy is described as fresh, and Intensity is blended to evoke a sense of mystery.
