TricorBraun adds 360-degree cosmetics and personal care packaging images to its site

Beauty makers and brands have been updating the digital packaging experience for years to give consumers online the same information and tangibility they’ve grown accustomed to in store. But everyone is shopping online now, and industry suppliers like package maker TricorBraun are upping their online game too.

Packaging Options Direct is a division of TricorBraun that has, since 2011, been serving the packaging and closure needs of startups and emerging businesses in a full spectrum of industries, ranging from food and beverage to beer and wine and from nutraceutical to pharmaceutical through to personal care.

The division has made a concerted effort over the years to be a go-to online marketplace for packaging. And now Packaging Options Direct (POD) has partnered with 360 and 3D image provider Snap36 to give clients an even more realistic online research and shopping experience.

“You won't find this functionality on other packaging supplier sites. We've kept a steady 97% satisfaction rating and providing this visibility to our products has further improved our ability to better serve the customer,” Nicholas Jager, ecommerce manager for POD, tells the press.

Upgrading in real time

Since POD began adding the 360 images to its site, the company has seen a lift in sales. “Some of our more popular categories such as glass liquor bottles and dispensing closures have benefited the most from the enhanced content and are seeing significant sales growth,” Jager says in a media release.

And he goes on to explain why meeting online shoppers’ expectations make good business sense on the supply side. "It's all about enhancing the customer experience,” says Jager. “We are leveraging best in class technology by working closely with Snap36 to provide a more engaging and convenient experience.”

For POD the site update is being made relatively quickly but is a work in progress. “POD has achieved a significant milestone in a short time by implementing 360-degree images for the majority of the products on the site and plan to complete the update by the end of the second quarter,” according to the media release. “Additionally, they plan on using this technology for new items that are constantly being added to the site.”

Packaging supply online

POD is committed to being a leading ecommerce site for packaging. The TricorBraun division has plans to expand the variety and quantity of items that it warehouses and offers online.

And client anecdotes suggest that practical, dynamic ecommerce solutions are in demand: The POD media release quotes John Sansevere, a new client from a personal care products company, as saying “Just started working with this company. Product was exactly as portrayed online. Delivery was timely. Will definitely continue to order and work with them.”
