Skin care device maker DermaFlash adds new sun care
There was an SPF 50 product in the lineup before (Daily Defense SPF 50); but that item is no longer available on the brand’s ecommerce site.
Dara Levy founded DermaFlash in 2015. The exfoliating device is an invention that came out of her years as a med spa owner and the popular dermaplaning procedure. In 2017 she accepted an equity investment from Guthy-Renker. When that deal was announced, Bill Guthy, founding principal of the direct-response marketing company, remarked, “We are impressed by Dara's instincts in building this business and see significant, global growth potential in the years to come.”
The line extension
Early this year, when she and her brand were featured on the Indie Beauty Profile, Levy may have hinted at the fact that this new multitasking sun care product was in development. The profile column always ends by asking about the featured founder’s desert-island beauty product; and Levy’s was (her own device, of course, but also) a tinted, hydrating gel with SPF 50.
She seems to still be following her instincts, extending the DermaFlash product line with item she would like, confident that other women share her expectations.
"Women desire products that work smarter and harder for them while not breaking the bank,” Levy says in a media release announcing DermaProtect, the new DermaFlash sun care product.
“I strive to create multi-tasking, effective solutions that address real issues and offer immediate results. I want to help women reveal their best skin in as little time possible. DermaProtect is an incredible 'Go and Glow' solution that not only protects, but perfects!”
The new product
The new DermaProtect product is facial sun care and primer all in one. According to the release it has broad spectrum SPF 50+ and “blurs pores…[acting like] a primer or light makeup.”
It’s formulated to provide oil control, hydration, and anti-aging benefits. The SPF comes from zinc oxide.
And DermaProtect apparently works for people of every skin color. The fragrance-free product “features a universal shade that blends with all skin tones and provides a sheer wash of color,” according to the release.
