Cooler Tools: Why brands like Beauty Tribe matter to hair care formulators

Innovative startups are changing the way consumers style their hair; and at Cosmoprof North America, Cosmetics Design spoke with Michiyo Oishi, Co-Founder of Beauty Tribe, to learn about the brand’s Jetset Hot Rollers, how better tool technology creates space for new treatment and styling product development, and more!

The Jetset Hot Rollers were more than 2 years in the making. Michiyo Oishi, the brand’s CEO, and her sisters Aki Oishi and Lea Oishi put their experience in finance, ceramics, and visual art together to develop truly contemporary hair styling technology.

Patented induction tech means that the rollers heat up in only 8 seconds. And the rollers use less heat to create curls than most conventional tools do, making them less likely to damage hair and changing the way consumers choose and use product to style and treat their hair.

“With a lot of the existing hair styling tools…they go to 400, 450…it’s very damaging for your hair,” affirms Oishi, in conversation with Cosmetics Design. “Our product is definitely more gentle on your hair; and I think that’s definitely a trend,” she says alluding to a shift in the way hot hair styling tools are being developed.
