The cosmetics industry in Colombia has been growing at a steady pace that has continued to outpace the country's relatively high inflation rate. The Colombian government estimates that last year the industry grew at around 4%, in real terms, which is one of the fastest growth rates in the Latin American region.
Reflecting this, the 2018 Belleza Y Salud event was really buzzing this year, with an expanded exhibitor list, as well as a very busy show floor, packed with visitors.
The event has continued to evolve as both a B2B show, alongside a show for every day beauty consumers to come and check out the latest product launches and technologies.
This year the event was held over five days, from October 3rd to the 7th, and was packed from start to finish. The show was especially busy over the weekends, with many of the exhibitors reporting record takings at the event.
For the second year the Belleza Y Salud event was partnering with the Bologna Fiere team, organizers of the global Cosmoprof events. The partnership has done much to internationalize the event, bringing on board companies from Europe, Asia and other parts of the Americas to give the event a far more global feel.
The Brazil pavilion was one of the most dominant in hall three and was nestled amongst the other country pavilions including Spain, Peru, Chile, Germany and Italy.
In a few short years, Cromantic has grown to become one of the major beauty retailers in Colombia. It features a vast range of masstige brands from both Colobmia and all over the world, many of which are some of the most popular international brands in Europe and North America right now.
Inzunai is an interesting Colombian company that markets a range of cosmetic and nutritional products made from ingredients sourced in Colombia, and more specifically the Colombian Amazon. Ingredients used include Cacay oil and Sacha Inchi oil. Please look out for an interview with the company founder, to be published on Cosmetics Design shortly.
Masglo is one of the biggest success stories for the Colombian cosmetics industry. It is currently the biggest name in the Latin American nail care industry, with distribution throughout the Americas. Most recently it has branched out in to male-focused nail care, providing subtle, clear matt and gloss nail varnishes for men.
Mae is a Colombian-owned company that is still less than a year old but making a splash. It provides a range of scrubs and face masks that have coffee grounds as the base ingredient. Cosmetics Design conducted a video interview with the company co-founder, which will be published very soon, so look out for that!
The Peru Cosmetics Association was exhibiting at the event for the very first time and featured a range of interesting companies that demonstrated the diversity and natural resources of the country.
