The SCC’s annual Scientific Meeting and Technology Showcase is due to take part at the Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel, December 11 – 12.

The event also includes three other educational seminars taking place on December 10th, which will include a look at formulating with natural oils, an introduction to surfactants and a background to GMO ingredients.

First-day conference program

The focus of the event is a full two-day conference program which will be divided into tiers of presentation on each day.

The first day of the presentations, on December 11th, will start off with a Keynote presentation titled "Neuroscience-Inspired Multisensory Design in the Cosmetics Sector”, given by Charles Spencer PhD, of Oxford University.

The remaining part of the presentations will be divided into two morning and two afternoon track sessions run in tandem.

The first morning presentation track will feature five presentations under the ‘Future of Cosmetic Science’, while the second track will also feature five presentations under the banner of ‘Creating Impactful Claims.

The two afternoon tracks will feature five presentations under ‘Advances in Cosmetics Dermatology, four presentations under ‘Pollution and Environmental Stressors’ and three presentations under ‘Intellectual Property In The Cosmetics Industry.

Second-day conference program

The second-day of the conference program will kick off with the Human Touch Awards, to recognize individual industry achievements, followed by a key note presentation on ‘3D Printing Electronics on the Skin’, given by Michael McAlpine, PhD, associate professor at University of Minnesota.

Again two concurrent tracks will form the base of the rest of the day’s presentations, which will include four separate segments.

Those segments will include three presentations each under titles of ‘Current and Future Regulatory Environment’, ‘Latest Production Innovations’ and the ‘Best of Nature and Science’, respectively, together with four presentations given under the ‘Design and Development of Cosmetics Ingredients’ title.
