This week's LATAM Beauy Brands profile highlights some of the hottest hair and skin care launches throughout the region, brought to you from market research provider Mintel.

Cosmetics Design has teamed up with Mintel to tap into its Global New Product Database and find out what type of brands are hitting the market, their product claims and what is making them stand out in a crowded market place. 

We spoke to Mintel beauty and personal care analyst Alison Gaither to find out the difference these products make and why what makes them innovative.

The hair care launches

In Colombia Colby has launched a sulfur0free shampoo and treatment that features aloe vera and Keratin, with a combination of hydration and damage repair claims tapping into some of the biggest trends in Latin America.

Over to Brazil for La Vertuan Man Shampoo for hair, beard and body, an all-in-one product that taps into huge growth in men's grooming as well as the on-the-go trend. 

Also in Brazil Capicilin Integral Shampoo and Conditioner again has the big hydration and damage repair claims, complete with natural ingredients that include collagen. 

The skin care launches

Another launch on the massive Brazil market is the Natura Faces Holo Tint Iluminador, a facial illuminating product that is described as using holographic tint technology to enhance the complexion. 

Sakros Mineral Mud Margarita Mix Mascarilla face mask contains mud and minerals and an exfoliating claim, which taps into the experiential of sipping a margarita with friends to enhance its appeal.

Salt-free Shampoo and pH Control Treatment - Colombia

The shampoo has been specially developed to deeply and delicately cleanse all types of hair, featuring a formula with aloe vera and keratin.

The rinse-off pH control treatment has been specially developed to control the pH in damaged hair, due to dyeing or other chemical processes, featuring a formula with olive oil and vitamin E, claimed to repair the most damaged areas, and coconut oil to provide protection, shine, strength and silkiness.

Why it is innovative

Claims and trendy ingredients. Although certainly not new to beauty and personal care, aloe vera is a trending ingredient. The combination of hydration and damage repair claims are key purchase influencers among Brazilian consumers, especially users of chemical treatments.

It is said to leave the beard clean, soft and moisturised, and to bring freshness to the skin and scalp.

Why it is innovative

Multipurpose and multitasking beauty and personal care products are trending among busy consumers. The additional beard cleansing claims appeal to men that typically take a functional approach to their beauty routines.

This product is described as a concentrated nourishing treatment designed to treat, nourish, moisturize and cauterize the damaged areas by replenishing nutrients, vitamins, oils and hair mass, thanks to a formulation with vegetable milk, coconut oil, collagen and d-panthenol.

Why it is innovative

Hispanic women are more likely to use newer hair tools in comparison to the total population. This is driven by overall higher engagement in the hair care category and their younger age skew in comparison to the total population.

Strong usage of hair tools leads to higher demand for damage repair hair care. This regimen claims to fight dryness, damage and improve porosity of the hair using natural oils and milks.

Why is it innovative

Texture transformation has recently been a popular trend in the beauty space as it adds to the sensorial experience. Color and special effects are key drivers behind the purchase of new color cosmetics. Younger Hispanic consumers are more confident experimenting with bright and bold looks, and the unisex claim plays to the growing genderless beauty trend.
