“As a testing lab that specializes in testing services for the cosmetic industry…we’ve seen a lot of interest and a lot of enthusiasm about using CBD in cosmetic product development, particularly related to skin care,” Anna Langerveld, president and CEO of Genemarkers, tells Cosmetics Design editor Deanna Utroske.
Explaining the nuances of the Genemarkers CBD testing panel further, she says, “we found a subset of about 163 genes that are consistently regulated by the [CBD] extract. We selected those 163 genes for this panel based on their role in skin biology.” And, “we’ve got a nice subset of genes related to acne, or skin pigmentation, or antioxidant production (particularly inflammation).”
