The annual packaging awards event for fragrance, personal care, cosmetics, and aerosol products coincides with the ADF&PCD tradeshow. The show and awards celebration will take place in mid-September. And in preparation, the event organizers are accepting entries of new product packaging from finished goods brands though the end of the month.

The 2019 ADF&PCD New York Innovation Awards ceremony will take place on September 18 at The Altman Building & Metropolitan Pavilion in New York City. And Easyfairs, the group that organizes the show, is accepting award entries through July 1, from “any company, in all business sectors, producing end-products which have a significant innovation in beauty packaging, aerosol and / or dispensing technologies,” according to the awards entry form.

Easyfairs welcomes both legacy and indie beauty brands to enter the awards. And aside from the time spent to complete the short entry from and a few product samples that need to be sent for judging, the ADF&PCD New York Innovation Awards are free to enter.

New and now

As the name suggests, the Innovation Awards honor new and novel packaging design. To enter, a brand must have launched their product to the market between June 24 of 2018 and June 24 of 2019.

And entries must have primary or secondary packaging that is innovative in at least one of the following ways: opening of a new market; unique design in terms of shape or decoration; demonstrating new ergonomics, gesture, or service; environmental sustainability or eco-conception; formulation or spray; or a new technical or transformative production process.

Award categories

There are 8 Innovation Award categories this year. The new 2019 category is called the Dandelion Clocks Award and will recognize the inventor of an innovative packaging design.

The other 7 categories are divided up between innovation in Aerosol & Dispensing and in Packaging of Perfume & Cosmetics.  (That’s because the ADF&PCD event is really 2 events in 1: the Aerosol & Dispensing Forum and the Packaging of Perfume, Cosmetics, & Design.) In ADF, the award categories are Personal Care and Sustainability. In PCD, the award categories are Personal Care, Hair Care and Hair Color, Makeup, Fragrance, and Rising Star (an award open to students).
