The newly revamped Indie Beauty Expo opened and closed its doors in New York City recently, dedicated solely to indie beauty brands and suppliers. In this photo gallery we bring you some of the brand innovation highlights.

The event was held at Pier 94/94, in mid-town Manhattan between August 21 and 22. This year's event saw the open day for consumers ditched, instead favoring on making the event a dedicated B2B expo.

This year there were some clear themes being represented by a real cross section of companies, with brands targeting CBD hair and skin care, personalization, sustainable packaging and also targeting different age groups, particularly for children.

CBD makes a big impression

Among the many brands featured in this gallery, we have also included three that feature CBD oil as a key part of the product formulation.

Moon Mother is a brand out of Boulder, Colorado, that was founded by Jessica Bates, who not only produced a comprehensive range of products, but also farms the hemp used for the CBD in the formulations.

BLNCD is a women owned company featuring a broad range of CBD oils, body and skin care products. It has carved out a significant following on the back of being a very personalize brand, made in small batches from the company's own facility in Minneapolis.

CBD hair care is also coming into the spotlight, and this trend was highlighted by the brand Smooth & Strong, which features a full range of hair care products made from THC-free CBD oil.
