Organizers, Reed Exhibitions, kicked off this year's event with an important announcement: the team has decided to move next year's event to New Jersey.
Reed has taken the decision to shift the event from the Jacob Javits in mid-town Manhattan, to the Meadowland's Exposition Center, which is in the heart of Northern New Jersey, making it a good spot for the many formulation providers that are based in and around that area.
Stating that the decision was made following extensive surveying of exhibiting companies and visitors to the event, and the dates for the New Jersey venue have been confirmed for October 21 - 22, 2020.
"This will take the region's most interactive show for personal care ingredients and new product development into the heartland of the beauty industry," said show director Daniel Zanetti.
"The Meadowlands is a superb venue. It will offer all participants greater value, with free parking, and accomodation on average 30% cheaper than in New York City."
And the winners are...
This year's winners for the in-cosmetics North America Awards were handed out last night at a cocktail gala. And here are the results:
Mibelle Biochemistry got the top prize for the Innovation Zone Best Ingredient Award with their ingredient, Black BeeOme - lauded for its ability to regenerate the skin flora and the skin barrier.
SEPPIC won the Sensory Bar Award for Sunshine & Pixie - an easy to apply suncare emulsion designed for party-goers.
The Make-Up Bar was awarded to Natura-tec for DIY Super-Glow - an eyeshadow designed to be both bright and long-lasting.
And the battle for The Formulation Challenge was also closely fought, with Swiss American coming out as the winner with a serum designed for the baby boomer generation. Shiseido was runner up with a serum designed for generation z.
It turns out that this will be the last year that in-cosmetics North America will be hosted at the Jacob Javits Center, following the organizer's announcement that the event is heading to New Jersey's Meadowland Expo Center in 2020.
EMD, which is the pigments arm of fine chemicals player Merck, took a prime position at the front of the exhibition space to promote the latest in its product offerings to the color cosmetics category.
Brazil was the only country pavilion at this year's event, taking a big slice of the event floor space to promote a number of big players from the country. Those companies numbered nine in total, including Beraca, Atina, Chemyunion, Main, Oxiteno and industry assocation ABIHPEC.
The Formulation Lab once again proved to be an extremely popular area, with industry professionals from all areas signing up for the classes. It also proved to be the battle ground for this year's Formulation Challenge, with the top prize going to Swiss American with its serum designed for the baby boomer generation, while Shiseido was runner up with its serum designed for generation z.
