The consumer goods company announced the hire late last week, just one day after Cummings stepped into her role, returning to beauty after nearly eight years in the hospitality and foods industries.

“I am thrilled to be joining the Walker & Company team at such an exciting time in the company's growth,” Tia Cummings tells the press. “I look forward,” she says “to leveraging my many years of marketing experience to help Bevel and Form Beauty become leading health and beauty brands for people of color.”

P&G has owned Walker & Company Brands for less than a year

Tristan Walker founded Walker & Company Brands in 2013 to simplify personal care for people of color. And in December 2018, P&G acquired the business.

As Cosmetics Design reported at the time of the deal, the acquisition “bolstered the P&G business by adding brands dedicated to meeting the needs of people of color and will facilitated the global growth of Walker & Co in terms of both scale and product innovation.”

Walker & Co, then and now, comprises two brands: Bevel, a men’s brand; and Form, a hair care brand for women of color. (Learn about the future of hair care and the growing importance of products made for textured hair in this Cosmetics Design video interview with Romina Brown of SSI Consults.)

Tia Cummings joins P&G to market Walker & Co Brands

Cummings most previously worked at InterContinental Hotels Group and, before that, at Kellogg Company. In year’s past she held roles at J&J and L’Oréal; and Cummings was even on the P&G term briefly as a summer associate research engineer.

“We are excited to welcome Tia to our leadership team to help grow the Walker & Company portfolio of brands,” Joanne Hsieh, COO of Walker & Company, says in this month’s media release from P&G. “She brings a great cross section of CPG, beauty and hospitality marketing experience, which will enable us to further deepen our connection with and solve the unique personal care needs of our target consumer.”
