And he goes on to say that Debra L Lee “has distinguished herself as a leader in the media industry for more than 30 years and brings broad, deep knowledge ranging from media strategy and programming to corporate risk oversight.”
“Her experience, expertise and guidance,” adds Taylor, “will further strengthen our efforts to better serve consumers and a broad range of stakeholders. We look forward to her contributions.”
A look at the current P&G Board of Directors
Currently, there are 13 P&G Board of Directors, including Lee. Her tenure began on Wednesday.
“The current composition of the Board reflects an appropriate mix of skill sets, experience, and qualifications that are relevant to the business and governance of the Company,” notes pg.com. “Each Director also has individual experiences that provide practical wisdom and foster mature judgment in the boardroom.”
Besides Lee, the P&G Board members are former CEO of The Home Depot, Francis S Blake; former WellPoint (Anthem) CEO Angela F Braly; Cisco Systems Executive Vice President Amy L Chang; Executive Board Committee Chair at Intuit Inc Scott D Cook; Co-Founder of Aditum Bio Joseph Jimenez; Operating Partner of the BlackRock private equity fund Long-Term Private Capital Terry J Lundgren; Senior Executive Vice President and CFO of The Walt Disney Company Christine M McCarthy; former CEO of The Boeing Company W. James McNerney Jr; CEO of Trian Fund Management Nelson Peltz; P&G CEO David S Taylor; Quibi CEO Margaret C Whitman; and former CEO of Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) Patricia A Woertz.
“Collectively, the Directors bring business, international, government, technology, marketing, retail consumer products, and other experiences pertinent to the Company’s global operations,” according to the site.
Debra L Lee brings a wealth of experience to the P&G Board of Directors
Lee is perhaps best known for the 30+ years she spent leading BET Networks as Executive Vice President and General Counsel, President and COO, President and CEO, and for her final 12 years with the company as Chairman and CEO.
And as this week’s P&G press release points out, “Over the course of her career, Ms. Lee has been a staunch advocate for equality and inclusion. In 2009, she became the founder and CEO of Leading Women Defined, Inc., an association of strategic thought leaders that strives to engage in constructive dialogue that will positively impact the Black community.”
“She also has extensive corporate governance experience from serving on a wide range of public company boards, and is currently a member of the board of directors of Marriott International, Inc., Burberry Group PLC and AT&T, Inc.,” according to the release. And, “she previously served as a Director of Revlon, Inc., WGL Holdings, Inc. and Twitter, Inc.”
