“I believe ingredients don't lie, and I love that Dove is bringing some of my favorite skin care ingredients to hair care,” says skin care influencer Hyram Yarbo in this month’s media release announcing the new Dove hair care collection.
“I'm so excited to team up with a legacy brand like Dove on their Dove Hair Therapy line, the first mass beauty skincare-inspired hair collection,” adding, “It's a great example of innovation that I love to see from a brand!”
Yarbo rose to prominence as a skin care influencer in 2020, picking up some 500,000 new YouTube subscribers in January of that year and growing steadily ever since. Today the Hyram channel on YouTube has well over 4million subscribers. And the influencer has a notable presence on Instagram and TikTok too.
Consumers are looking for similar product benefits across hair care, skin care, scalp care
Since Yarbo’s specialty is skin care, it stand to reason that the new Dove product collection would work with him to launch and promote Dove Hair Therapy, a brand that’s formulated around “skin care – inspired ingredients,” according to the media release.
“After learning that consumers were not fully satisfied with their current hair care solutions, the Dove Hair team sought to create products featuring potent skincare ingredients to deliver incredible results after one wash,” explains Pranav Chandan, Division Director of Beauty & Personal Care and Home Care for Unilever (the company that owns Dove).
“We are so pleased,” he says, “to be able to fill this consumer need and provide effective and long-lasting hair care solutions.”
Choosing the right ingredients for skin, hair, and scalp
Dove simplified the Hair Therapy concept by focusing on just 3 “skin care – inspired ingredients:” Hyaluronic Acid, Niacinamide, and the brand’s Nutrient-Lock Serum.
There are 3 product lines within the collection, one for each hero ingredient. The Hydration Spa line is formulated with Hyaluronic Acid; the Dry Scalp Care line includes Niacinamide; and the Breakage Remedy features the Nutrient-Lock Serum, which of course isn’t listed as such on the label. But for reference here are the full ingredient lists of both the shampoo and conditioner in the Dove Hair Therapy Breakage Remedy product line.
