Ulta Beauty and DoorDash are partnering to bring same-day delivery of beauty products in anticipation of continued demand for no-contact buying after pandemic restrictions.

The partnership was announced Tuesday between the cosmetics retailer and the delivery service, primarily focused on food delivery, and will serve as an avenue for same-day delivery in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Houston and Boise, according to the press release.

A spokesperson from Ulta told Cosmetics Design the same-day delivery service came in response to anticipation that customers would continue to want multiple shopping options. Next to other shopping options like in-store and curbside, same-day delivery will “meet customers where they are.”

Shanna Prevé, vice president of strategic partnerships and business development at DoorDash said in a statement to Cosmetics Design the company saw consumer demand for fast and convenient access to cosmetics brands and is excited to provide same-day delivery for Ulta’s products.

The Ulta spokesperson also said partnering with DoorDash allows for both companies to leverage their strengths and expertise.

"As we enter our busiest time of year, Ulta Beauty could not be more thrilled about our partnership with DoorDash to conveniently deliver the joy of beauty," said Prama Bhatt, chief digital officer of Ulta Beauty, in the release. "This partnership represents two leaders coming together to create a new touchpoint for our guests that importantly connects our physical and digital experiences in a relevant, new way."

Ulta’s spokesperson said they hope to see strong engagement by consumers during the busy holiday season as a tool to do last minute shopping or lower holiday shopping stress levels.

The company said they’ll learn from the same-say delivery service ahead of a larger roll-out into other cities in 2022.
