Univar Solutions México appointed dsm-firmenich’s exclusive distributor in Central America region

The Univar Solutions, Inc. subsidiary will focus on expanding the reach of dsm-firmenich’s extensive bioactive ingredient portfolio in Mexico, the Caribbean, and several Central American countries.

Yesterday, global chemical and ingredient distributor to the cosmetics and personal care product industries Univar Solutions Inc. announced that its subsidiary, Univar Solutions México, has been appointed as the exclusive distributor of manufacturer dsm-firmenich’s product portfolio to companies in the Central American region, including Costa Rica, Guatemala, El Salvador, Panama, Honduras, Mexico and the Caribbean.

As detailed in the company’s press release regarding the announcement, the agreement will “provide beauty and personal care customers access to the complete dsm-firmenich portfolio, including sun care, skin care, and hair care solutions.” Further, “the addition of dsm-firmenich's product portfolio in Central America, Mexico, and the Caribbean, expands Univar Solutions' ability to offer personal care ingredients and solutions, which are highly innovative and locally applicable in the regions,” the release said.

About the agreement

The distribution agreement will capitalize on the strengths of both companies to better serve brands in the designated regions. As detailed in the release, “dsm-firmenich is a global leader in UV filters and vitamins” and has over forty years’ experience providing companies with skin bioactive ingredients for product formulation. The company’s portfolio is extensive and “includes UV filters, vitamins, actives, extracts, peptides and performance ingredients.”

Further, the release stated, “Univar Solutions' specialized beauty and personal care expertise serves sun care, skin care, color cosmetics and hair care customers with a suite of customized products and services.” The company’s “network of Solution Centers, global distribution footprint and supply chain expertise” are well positioned to deliver “a comprehensive customer experience, from product development through ongoing brand support” to the targeted region, the release continued.

The partnership is expected to be particularly successful with a focus on current beauty trends like hair care, skin care and cosmetics, and “both companies are well positioned to help customers turn trends into product solutions,” the release said. Said James Peterson, global vice president for beauty and personal care for Univar Solutions, “dsm-firmenich's products enhance and diversify our portfolio further and our teams look forward to presenting them to our esteemed customers across a range of personal care markets."
