Meet the Beauty Forward 2024 Europe speakers…

On Tuesday 30th January at 2.30pm (GMT)/3.30pm (CET), we will air a two-hour broadcast dedicated to uncovering the mindset and values of the ‘next generation consumer’. As we unveil beauty industry trends for 2024 and beyond, we’ll put a special focus on microbiome beauty, circular beauty and skin care trends.

The broadcast is part of a three-day event that will kick off in Asia Pacific on 29th January at 3pm (SGT), followed by Europe on 30th January at 2.30pm (GMT)/3.30pm (CET), and North America on 31st January 11am (CST).

Over the three days, we’ll be interviewing a variety of experts from multinational companies such as L’Oréal, Coty, Kenvue and Unilever, some of the most innovative startups, as well as cutting-edge trends experts, to get a better understanding of the wants and needs of future beauty consumers.

Meet our Europe speakers: 30th January 2.30pm(GMT)/3.30pm(CET)

The European broadcast is going to focus on next-gen beauty microbiome opportunities, next-gen circular beauty innovation, and the next-gen European skin care consumer.

For this, we will be hearing from:

Dr Alain Mavon, VP R&D and sustainability, LUMENE Group

Dr Mavon has over 25 years of expertise in cosmetics research, about 60 scientific publications, and several patents. He has long been researching the ageing process and investigating ways to improve skin health and enhance beauty.

In 2022, Dr Mavon joined LUMENE Group as VP of R&D and Sustainability, leading the R&D, Quality, and Sustainability teams. His core focus is now on innovative plant-based Nordic ingredients, eco-friendly packaging, and circular beauty.

Jayn Sterland, MD at Weleda UK

Sterland has been a passionate leader at Weleda for over a decade, with a mission to drive the industry towards using more sustainable business practices. 

She’s topped the ‘Who’s Who in Natural Beauty’ list for the seventh time this year – an accolade that recognises those driving change and growth in the industry. Sterland also offers her time and expertise to changemaker groups such as the B Corp Beauty Coalition, the Sustainable Beauty Coalition and the British Beauty Council, where she now holds the position of pillar president for ESG.

Dr Magali Moreau, deputy domain leader – advanced research at L'Oréal R&I

Dr Moreau oversees L'Oréal’s microbiome laboratories in France and is deputy domain leader for L’Oréal R&I’s discovery programme. She thrives in translating scientific discoveries in the field of microbe-host interaction into products that make an impact on people’s wellbeing. 

For the past six years, she has placed particular emphasis on the realm of microbiome science and her research projects have contributed to knowledge and testing of concept for eczema, acne, sensitive skin and cleansing. 

Margo and Roxy Marrone, co-founders of skin care startup Eyeam

Margo Marrone has been in the industry for over 30 years and co-founded The Organic Pharmacy. As well as being a cosmetic formulator and pharmacist, Marrone is a homeopath and energy healer. Her co-founder and daughter, Roxy Marrone, is an integrative nutritional and manifesting practitioner who has fostered an incredible community on her Healing with Roxy TikTok platform.

Together the duo has founded a visionary and holistic new skin care brand, Eyeam, which fuses the spiritual with the scientific and is based around growing knowledge of the mind-skin-gut axis.

Sam Samaras, global senior VP science & technology, beauty and wellbeing R&D, Unilever

Samaras is responsible for delivering innovations in the €25Bn Beauty and Personal Care business across the Skin Care & Cleansing, Prestige, Deodorants, Hair and Oral Care categories. Her team is tasked to deliver disruptive technologies, external facing scientific authority, insights and claims, underpinned by leading edge scientific expertise and enabling capabilities.

She is also responsible for clinical testing across the business, which supports disruptive and superior claims, new fundamental understanding and new technology development.
