The New York Society of Cosmetic Chemists (NYSCC) Suppliers Day 2024 was an exciting convergence of innovation, expertise, and networking within the cosmetic science industry. Held at the bustling Javits Center in New York City, this year's event brought together leading suppliers, formulators, and industry professionals from around the globe.
Attendees were treated to a showcase of the latest advancements in raw materials, technology, and sustainable solutions, all aimed at driving the future of cosmetics and personal care. From insightful presentations and hands-on demonstrations to vibrant exhibits and interactive workshops, NYSCC Suppliers Day 2024 was a testament to the dynamic and ever-evolving nature of the beauty and personal care sector.

The trade show opened with a ceremonial ribbon cutting attended by exhibitors and NYSCC board members including Chair Dr. Amber O. Evans, Advisor Stacey House, and Chair-Elect John Carola. This year marked the 70th anniversary of the NYSCC Chapter, and the sold-out show was the biggest in its 45 year history.
The show floor featured well over 500 exhibitors from companies across the personal care and cosmetics spaces. Companies large and small came together to network, showcase innovative ingredient formulations, and gain insight into the latest industry trends.
Presented by the Independent Beauty Association, the INDIE 360° educational session was specifically designed for indie brands to gain exclusive insights across the beauty industry. Taking place on the first day of the trade show, there were two sessions of the "NYSCC Suppliers’ Day staple that solidly supports NYSCC’s mission of education in cosmetic chemistry," as detailed in the Suppliers' Day programming. The sessions were moderated by Thomas Driewga, Chair – Future Chemists Workshop and featured a presentation by TikTok influencer Jane Tsui (@janethechemist).
On the evening of the first day at NYSCC Suppliers' Day 2024, and amidst an evening brimming with cultural flair and anticipation, the NYSCC unveiled the eagerly awaited finalists for the CEW Awards Suppliers category. The event showcased innovative entries from industry leaders like dsm-firmenich, Lucas Meyer Cosmetics, and Givaudan.

Touted as "a must for the young, the veterans, and those looking to expand their horizons," according to NYSCC Suppliers' Day programming, "the SCC Career Fair designed to showcase all of the paths one may choose in cosmetic chemistry/personal care product development." The well-attended event was deemed a success by NYSCC Chair Dr. Amber O. Evans.
As detailed in an NYSCC press release, "This year the INDIE 360° Pavilion featured 16 beauty companies that showcased innovation across all categories including color cosmetics, fragrance, skin and body care, hair, and wellness."
"Hosted and curated in partnership with ACCESS BEAUTY INSIDERS led by exhibition and marketing industry veteran Daniela Ciocan," the release continued, "these brands are innovators in genderless and inclusive beauty, sustainability, multifunctionality, and ingredient transparency," and this year featured a special focus on Latina innovations and founders.

Day two of NYSCC Suppliers' Day 2024 kicked off with keynote speaker Qian Zheng, MD/PhD, SVP Head of Advanced Research North America & Global Regenerative Beauty Discovery Domain at L’OREAL Research & Innovation as she led a discussion on "how L’Oréal’s Green Sciences approach creates alternatives to petrochemicals and delve into new research areas of high performance, with an overarching aim to drive positive change for the world," as described in NYSCC's Suppliers' Day programming.

This year's Main Stage featured several inspirational and enthusiastic panels and presentations, including Discover Sustainability sessions, Sustainable Development in the Cosmetics Sector, and Innovations from the Inspiration Zone.
The second day of NYSCC Suppliers' Day 2024 concluded with a Membership Mixer, which opened with a presentation by NYSCC Chair Dr. Amber O. Evans. Attendees were given the opportunity to network and learn more about the benefits of association membership.
