As the Luxe Pack New York luxury packaging event enters its tenth year in 2012 when it opens its doors today, the CosmeticsDesign.com team will be present at the show conducting interviews, attending conferences and finding out about product launches and innovations to bring you the latest industry news.

This year’s show is taking place today and tomorrow at the Altman Building and Metropolitan Pavilion. Among the 140 exhibitors at the event are companies including Aptar, Lumson and HCP Packaging.

Luxe Pack New York continues to attract new exhibitors, with Airolux, Aphena Health and Beauty and Cosmetic Specialties International among those participating for the first time.

Latest packaging developments

Glass packaging specialist Gerresheimer is just one of the many companies gearing up to showcase its newest creations in cosmetics and personal care. At the event, the company will highlight the packaging it produced for Mercedes-Benz and Victoria’s Secret perfumes, as well as the jars and bottles it created for the Yves Saint Laurent Forever Youth Liberator anti-aging line.

Other new packaging products will be on display at the Innovation Pavilion, where sustainability is a key theme. Companies present at this special exhibit include Anisa with its cosmetics brush wand sized for portability and travel, and Cosmogen with its Shake’n Powder waterproof powder jars.

Elsewhere at the event is the Material ConneXion Lab, a pop-up materials library from Material ConneXion. It features the latest material developments as well as packaging examples and success stories to inspire visitors and spark new ideas.

Comprehensive seminar program

Luxe Pack New York has once again organized a comprehensive seminar program in 2012, which features participants from companies including Neopac and SGD and includes topics such as beauty and packaging trends and sustainability.

‘The Crossroads of Research and Packaging Design: How the two combine for products with the greatest promise’ panel discussion features panelists from Estee Lauder, L’Oreal USA and Purpose-Built, who will focus on examples of sustainable packaging and corporate practices for marketing and operations benefits.
