This year’s presentations will be divided up into five principle sessions over two days, with the third day being devoted to a workshop focusing on the subject of formulating with green ingredients.

The five principle conference sessions will include:

  • Sustainability initiatives
  • Novel green ingredients
  • Marketing developments
  • CEO roundtable
  • Consumer behavior

Key presentations will also include prominent industry figures such as the charismatic Hors Rechelbacher, founder of Aveda and Intelligent Nutrients, Elizabeth Lascelle, senior director of environmental, health and safety at Johnson & Johnson, together with Amarjit Sahota, founder of Organic Monitor, which is also the event organizer.

This is the fourth North American summit, and it will take place at the Intercontinental Barclay, Manhattan, bringing together some of the leading names in the natural and organic cosmetics and personal care industry.

Significant topics that will be covered in detail this year will include novel green ingredients, marketing developments and consumer behavior.

Focus on ways to reduce environmental footprint

And for the first time, the summit conference presentation will have a key focus on ways to reduce the environmental footprint of cosmetic products by using green ingredients and encouraging sustainable consumption.

The ecological impact of cosmetic and personal care products is becoming more and more important, particularly from a consumer perspective, as  awareness of consumption patterns and how they impact the environment continues to grow.

Organic Monitor also says that because many cosmetic companies now have to be increasingly preoccupied with ecological impacts, the sustainability initiatives session discusses ways of improving the social footprintof personal care products.

Other key speakers lined up for the two day conference program include Nick Palmer, director of policy at Cruelty Free International, Les Szabo, business development specialist at Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soaps and Ellen Kamhi, herbalist, Bio-Botanica.
